I have had experience with a whitening kit before. Right before my wedding, I won a whitening kit from a local dentist office. I had to go into their office and have the impressions done and within a week, I picked up the impressions and whitening syringes. The Smile Brilliant kit was very similar to the local dentist offices kit, but you don't have to go into the dentist. And we all know no one loves going to the dentist.
I really wanted to whiten my teeth after I saw one of my best friends, during wine night, and her teeth were so white. My teeth take a beating between all the coffee and wine I drink and they needed help desperately.
The kit arrived at my door step and I got started on reading the instructions. I read the instructions a few times to make sure I would not mess the impressions up. It was so easy to do. Everything is labeled and it does not take much time to do.
Each kit comes with three Bases, three Catalysts, two impression molds and several syringes of Whitening Gel and Desensitizing Gel.
Make sure you brush and floss your teeth for the best results. First, you mix the base and the catalyst using your fingers. You want to mix it so you don't see any white anymore. You want to do this quickly so it doesn't harden. Once you have it mixed, add it into one of the molds. Then you carefully press it onto your top teeth. Some of the mix will come out, but just let it be. You will keep the mold in your mouth for the allotted time. If you happen to mess up or don't like the way it turned out, they have included an extra set of Base and Catalyst. You repeat the steps for the bottom teeth. Make sure to do only one set of teeth at a time because you don't want your mix hardening.
Once you have both your top and bottom teeth done, set aside and let it try for at least an hour. I let mine sit over night. Then you mail in your molds in the provided envelope and wait for your impressions to come back.
Once your impressions come in the mail (it is pretty quick), you can get started on whitening your teeth.
Read the instructions a couple times just to be sure you are doing it right. You will want to brush and floss your teeth as you want a fresh canvas to start with. I would start with my top teeth and I would put a thin ribbon of the Teeth Whitening Gel along the front of the teeth inside of the impression.
Then you put it in your mouth and make sure if it on properly and snugly. Repeat for the bottom teeth. The instructions recommend keeping them on for 45 minutes to three hours. The first time I did it, I left it on for 45 minutes just in case my teeth were sensitive to the gel. Each time I did it, I would add on a bit of time. Sometimes I would watch an episode and a half of Parenthood before I took them out. If you experience any sensitivity, take a day off or do it for a little less time.
Once you hit your time for the Teeth Whitening Gel, you will then take your impressions out and add a thin ribbon of the Desensitizing Gel inside your molds on the front of the teeth. This gel diminishes sensitivity, and prevents re-staining. You will leave the Desensitizing Gel on for 15 to 20 minutes. Once that is finished, you rinse out your impressions and do it again the next night.
I chose to do it at night because I wouldn't have any wine, coffee or staining liquids after I was done whitening. You only do it once per day and they say you won't see the results for about 10 days. I saw them sooner, on about day 4 and I was really happy with my results.
See for yourself.
As you can see my teeth are whiter and I am very happy with my results. I will definitely be ordering more when I need touch-ups.
