Friday Favorites

It has been a long week. Between going to Vegas for work for the first part of this week and another stressful event (details below), I am hoping for a free and happy weekend. And for the forecast to be wrong and bring us sunshine instead of rain. Is that too much to ask?

Happy Cinco de Mayo friends! I hope to dine on Mexican and margs tonight. What about you?

Let's get down to Friday Favorites.

ONE. Remember how I said my stress levels could ease up a bit now that my first of two huge meetings was over? Well, we got a bombshell yesterday and it SUCKS.

The girls' daycare is closing. And they gave us a 3 week notice. Eff. I want to shout all the cuss words I can or drown my stress out in wine.

We have been looking at new daycares for awhile now and settled on one. We put our names on the wait list and paid a deposit. The girls are set to start August 7th. My MIL was set to watch the girls the first week of August and everything was just fine. Until it wasn't and we got notice that our daycare is closing on May 31st.

So we have been struggling, searching and figuring out what to do in the last 24 hours. My in-laws have said they can watch the girls most of the time for the next two months, but they have vacation in there and either we will have to take that time off (I don't have a lot of extra time off), hope my dad will want to watch them or hope a miracle happens.

The only thing I know is my stress level shot up high yesterday and I am one very sad and upset mom. I love the teachers they have and was sad we would be leaving them, but now we are forced to go and go now. Ugh.

Thanks for letting me vent.

TWO. The good side this whole situation? Saving two months of daycare. That means we can get a new tv or couch which is the only good side of things right now.

THREE. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw one of these photos. On Tuesday morning I got a text message right before I went into my Board meeting (you know the one I have been stressing about for weeks) saying that Sutton went down the slide headfirst and face planted into the dirt. She has a nasty scrap on her chin and her teeth cut her lip up.

The teacher's cleaned her up, iced her mouth and gave her love before she ran right back out to the slide again. She is fearless. She loves adventure. I gotta watch out for Sutton as she gets older.

FOUR. Don't forget, next week is our Girl Chat link up on Thursday May 11th. This month's topic is your favorite make up/beauty products. I can't wait to share mine and hear from you all on your favorite products. I am always looking for new things to try.

FIVE. We are looking at buying the girls a slide for outside. They love going down the slide....see #3 to realize how much they love it. But I want some suggestions from you ladies on what your kids love. I don't want a baby slide, but would I have to get one with a swing set or as some sort of combo? Or what about the roller coaster slide thing?

  1. oh my gosh friend, what horrible news! And timing...way to only give families 3 weeks to figure out what they are going to do. Did they say why they were closing? My boys love that roller coaster thing. Our preschool has 3 of them and they are always playing with it. Ive been tempted to get for our house but am holding out. Your girls would have so much fun on it! I hope your stress level evens out soon and y'all figure out the girls daycare situation! Have a great weekend!

    1. I know, right? It has been stressful to say the least. We have some amazing family that has stepped in to help and I am forever thankful for them. They are closing due to lack of funds. It is a Christian school ran by the church and they said they can't fund it anymore. So where has my very expensive tuition been going to? I definitely think we might get that roller coaster with how much love everyone is giving it. I hope you have a great weekend as well.

  2. Ugh, Danielle. That is terrible! How crappy of them to only give 3 weeks notice! Did they give a reason as to why they are closing?

  3. Oh Danielle I am so sorry about the daycare situation. I can't believe they are planning to close and only gave a 3 week notice. It's takes longer than 3 weeks to find a new one. I'm so so sorry. Fingers crossed it all works out.

  4. Oh my gosh Danielle, talk about stressful!! I am so sorry you're dealing with that, I hope everything works out with everyone helping out to watch the girls!! Ughhh!!

Sutton sounds like my Avery! She gives me a heart attack on the daily!

We have the roller coaster and even Brayden still loves it, but we also have a full playset with a slide, swings, rings, etc. and they love that too!

  5. Oh sweetie, my heart goes out to you! I'll never forget when the Boy's babysitter, when they were little, told me she was quitting, it ripped my heart in two. Since mine are teenagers, I wish that I could fly out your way and take care of those precious girls every day for you sweetheart. I will pray you find a good solution and that Sutton feels better from her ouchie. Wish you a wonderful weekend beautiful!!

  9. I am so sorry to hear about the daycare situation. I really hope something works out for you. Being a "working" parent is so so hard. I use majority of my time off just to cover days where we get stuck and of course I still want to be able to travel and use those days for other things. I hope you guys still have a good weekend and try to relax if possible <3 Beautifully Candid

  10. Oh no, I'm so sorry about the day care situation. I hope you find a good solution! My kids loved that roller coaster slide when they were little. The other option in my opinion is a swing set - but do you already have one? I just realized that my planned post for next Thurs. will fit in with the girl chat theme - yay!

  11. Oh my word I can't believe that the daycare is closing and giving you such little notice. I would for sure be in panic mode. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this, Danielle. I hope that everything turns out OK in the end.

And poor little Sutton. I was so sad when I saw that picture the other day. She is such a trooper. And on another note, just look at her lashes! Oh my goodness, what I wouldn't give for those!

  12. What stressful news! Maybe you can find a summer babysitter (like a college student) to take the girls when your inlaws are on vacation. Jess at Just Jess

  13. I'm not a parent, but I've met people who are looking for daycares before, and it was not an easy task. Glad you were able to settle on one. Three weeks is not much notice.
