Friday Fav's - Life Lately

Ladies, here we are at another Friday and a long weekend!

I am linking up with April and Karli.

One. I am finally getting my hair done tonight and it needs it. I get my hair done every 8 or so weeks (gotta get rid of my awful roots) and by week 7, I can't even stand my hair. I hate any and everything I do with it. That is why I probably make irrational decisions when I am at my appointments. Luckily, my hairstylist knows me and doesn't allow me to do crazy things she knows I will regret later.

So, as I said, I am way over my hair right now. I love long hair and want to continue to grow it out, but my girls (read: Avery) loves to pull my hair and pull it out. She thinks she is funny, but I hate it. Ouch. So I have tossed around the idea of cutting several inches off of it and making it straight across in back so it is one length. It will help with her pulling my hair and make it appear to be thicker. Since I straighten my hair daily, my ends look awful and stringy and I am over it.

Other option, is to totally change up my color. That way it gives me a fresh look and feel to my hair without have hair cut regret. I love the balayage look, but I would leave it to my hairstylist to give me a new look using blondes and browns and have a go at it. Seriously, she is that amazing with color. And then I would just do lose curls daily to change up the look of my longer hair.

So what do you all think?
For reference, this is a side view so you can see the length (and my double chin) and the front so you can see how stringy it gets (quickly). Plus you can see the color it is now, but there are more brown undertones on the bottom where my natural hair color is.

My appointment is at 5 pm (PST) so please send me your thoughts.

Two. It has only been a week since my Strange Bikinis appointment, but I can't wait to receive it. I should have it by mid-June at the latest and just in time for my Graeagle trip. While I can't show you the colors (I got a brand new color), I can show you what the top will look like. The bottoms are custom based off of one of her designs but with way more booty coverage. I will have a top that looks like this, but in a different color.

Three. Books. I have been cranking out the books again and it feels so good. I used to read all the time for pleasure...once I was out of school and then life got in the way and I only read on work/fun trips. With all sorts of bloggers mentioning amazing summer reads, I had to start my reading obsession again. I cranked out two of Sophia Kinsella books (I have read the entire Shopaholic series and had to finish the rest), The Girl on the Train and now I am reading Luckiest Girl Alive. So if you have any books that you can recommend once I finish Luckiest Girl Alive, send them my way. I am sure I will be finished with it by the end of the weekend.

Four. We are going camping this weekend with family and friends and I can't wait. Last time we went (Labor Day weekend), we had so much fun...atving, sunshine, lots of food, alcohol, family time, horseshoe tournaments and smores. I love long weekends and celebrating Memorial Day with family and friends who have or are serving.

Five. If you missed Tuesday's post, then you missed when I told you all that I FINALLY have some walkers. Ever since Monday, my girls have been walking more and more. Yesterday, Avery took so many more steps and was furthering her distance all week. Sutton is walking back and forth all day in her daycare room and at home. So crazy to see how fast they learned. And it is adorable to see how tall they really are. So cute and fun to watch their Frankenstein walks.

    1. I wanted to read it before the movie as well. The previews on the movie looked great, so I will check that one out next. Have a great weekend as well.

  2. Camping sounds so fun!! I vote you cut your hair. What about a long bob? I love how a bob always makes hair look so thick! So excited ab the girls walking. What fun! Have a great weekend!!

    1. I have wanted a long bob for awhile now. When the girls were 6 months old I wanted to cut my hair in a long bob and my hairstylist said no, but that was because I was still post partum and she didn't want me to make any rash decisions. I will see what she thinks about that now. Have a great weekend as well.

  3. I vote cut a little and balayage. Your hair sounds like mine and I had balayge for a long time, actually until my last two appointments and it was great. I could go longer in between colors and the sun still lightened it a tad. Cutting some length will make it feel healthier and less for the girl to grab.

    1. I love the idea of balayage. I pinned a bunch of those and wanted to ask my hairstylist about it for my hair. She did one recently to another client and I loved it. I would love to go longer between appointments too. Thanks for the suggestions!

  4. Don't cut your hair!!! I think you'll regret it later!! If it's anything like mine, it's taking forever to grow out. I love the blonde thought, so pretty :)

    1. My hair does take forever to grow out. I usually only trim it because I want that super long length that I haven't had since high school. My hair is pretty long now, but I want it longer. What do you think about balayage blonde? I will have fun camping for sure. Thanks for stopping by.

  5. You have beautiful hair don't cut it. I cut mine and now I hate it. I liked it at first but now it just doesn't seem to grow at all. In fact, I hate it so much, I won't even wear it down. Have fun camping this weekend.

    1. I always get haircut regret at 2 weeks out. Or maybe it is that I can't style it daily like my hairstylist does. I am so sorry that you don't like your hair. I would rather have a bad color than bad cut because a color I can fix. A cut takes forever to grow out. Have a great weekend.

  6. I vote for cutting it all the same length only cuz I just did it to mine and I'm so happy with it! If you decide to add color, don't make it too drastic so you won't be shocked. But I think it would add more warmth to your hair and face and be really pretty and more natural!

    1. I would love more warmth and I love the idea of balayage so it can grow out more naturally and look more natural. Then I can have some butter blondes, dark blondes and what not in it.

  7. That's so exciting about your girls walking!
I wouldn't cut your hair too much. I love it long!
I'm currently reading The Girl on the Train and it's so good. I'm not sure what I'll read next.
    Enjoy your weekend camping!

  8. Girl, I think you look fantastic the way you are and I actually love your hair long! However, if you do decide to cut it off I'm sure it will still look great, and if you end up not liking it, it'll grow back! Have a great weekend, friend!

  9. Ahh have so much fun camping. I've actually never really been camping, haha. I mean like maybe in the backyard in a tent when I was little. I think I'll have to do it once or twice raising a boy now. Good luck with the hair! I can't wait to see what you decide.

    1. I did a blonde balayage, but it was more of an ashy one and I am not sure on it yet. I think I wanted more of a butter blonde style one.
