Beauty Would You Rather

Jenn at Going the Distance recently did a Beauty Would You Rather... and I loved reading her answers, so I thought I would participate too. Thanks for the inspiration!

1. Wear only one eye shadow color OR only one lip color for the rest of your life?
I would go with only one lip color for the rest of my life since I don't wear lipstick that often and when I do, I go for neutral tones so it would go with everything. I need multiple eye shadow colors daily.

2. Live without makeup OR without nail polish?
This is so easy...without nail polish. I need makeup on the daily just to look presentable (in my opinion). I have worn it since I was a teen and I feel naked without it. I didn't wear it during my maternity leave and that was ok, but being out in public and at work, I need my mask.
My go-to bright pink nail polish (Hotter Than Pink)

3. Have dark nails OR bright nails year round?
Bright nails. I love fun, bright colors and I am constantly changing my nail color (basically every Thursday night while the girls sleep and Rory is at his softball game).

4. Give up makeup brushes OR mascara?
Makeup brushes because as Jenn pointed out (and others before her), you can use sponges or that pink blender (that Sephora sales and I have been wanting).

5. Leave the house with an obvious foundation line OR overdone blush?
Overdone blush. Yes you may look like a clown with all that color, but there is nothing worse than seeing the foundation line and thinking that the person does not know how to wear makeup. They are a rookie and you need to blend it down through your neck. See the pink blender above.

6. Have no eyebrows OR sharpie drawn ones?
Both are awful. I guess I would go with no eyebrows so I can use a pencil (not a sharpie) to draw them on and at least look half way decent. Sharpie, just no.

7. Go out with messy hair/nice makeup OR nice hair/no makeup?
Messy hair and nice makeup. Isn't that what my mom life looks like? Half the time when my hair looks good in the morning, it is destroyed through the day by my girls pulling my hair, crawling through the baby tunnels, rolling on the ground, etc.

8. Have a bad haircut OR bad hair color?
Bad hair color any day. That will grow out and look just fine. Or you can do other styles to cover up the mess, but having a bad haircut is the worst. I had one before and when you can't even put it in a pony tail to hide the mess, it is awful and you hate the way you look for months. At least with hair color you can hide it better.

9. Be able to buy only drugstore makeup OR only high end makeup?
If money doesn't come into play then only high end makeup because why not?! But if money is needed, then drugstore makeup. I wear some drugstore makeup and it is just as good, if not better than the high end makeup. I love Maybelline's Dark Circle Eraser and it works way better than my more expensive concealers.

10. Spend $1,000 on clothes OR makeup?
Clothes all the way. I love clothes and I swoon over clothes way more than makeup. I could do some real damage with $1,000. Anyone want to sponsor me for that? Ha.

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope you all are enjoying your three day weekend. I also hope you take a minute to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day. Thank a veteran, a family whose loved one served for our country and all the amazing people who served for our country and are no longer with us.

Friday Fav's - Life Lately

Ladies, here we are at another Friday and a long weekend!

I am linking up with April and Karli.

One. I am finally getting my hair done tonight and it needs it. I get my hair done every 8 or so weeks (gotta get rid of my awful roots) and by week 7, I can't even stand my hair. I hate any and everything I do with it. That is why I probably make irrational decisions when I am at my appointments. Luckily, my hairstylist knows me and doesn't allow me to do crazy things she knows I will regret later.

So, as I said, I am way over my hair right now. I love long hair and want to continue to grow it out, but my girls (read: Avery) loves to pull my hair and pull it out. She thinks she is funny, but I hate it. Ouch. So I have tossed around the idea of cutting several inches off of it and making it straight across in back so it is one length. It will help with her pulling my hair and make it appear to be thicker. Since I straighten my hair daily, my ends look awful and stringy and I am over it.

Other option, is to totally change up my color. That way it gives me a fresh look and feel to my hair without have hair cut regret. I love the balayage look, but I would leave it to my hairstylist to give me a new look using blondes and browns and have a go at it. Seriously, she is that amazing with color. And then I would just do lose curls daily to change up the look of my longer hair.

So what do you all think?
For reference, this is a side view so you can see the length (and my double chin) and the front so you can see how stringy it gets (quickly). Plus you can see the color it is now, but there are more brown undertones on the bottom where my natural hair color is.

My appointment is at 5 pm (PST) so please send me your thoughts.

Two. It has only been a week since my Strange Bikinis appointment, but I can't wait to receive it. I should have it by mid-June at the latest and just in time for my Graeagle trip. While I can't show you the colors (I got a brand new color), I can show you what the top will look like. The bottoms are custom based off of one of her designs but with way more booty coverage. I will have a top that looks like this, but in a different color.

Three. Books. I have been cranking out the books again and it feels so good. I used to read all the time for pleasure...once I was out of school and then life got in the way and I only read on work/fun trips. With all sorts of bloggers mentioning amazing summer reads, I had to start my reading obsession again. I cranked out two of Sophia Kinsella books (I have read the entire Shopaholic series and had to finish the rest), The Girl on the Train and now I am reading Luckiest Girl Alive. So if you have any books that you can recommend once I finish Luckiest Girl Alive, send them my way. I am sure I will be finished with it by the end of the weekend.

Four. We are going camping this weekend with family and friends and I can't wait. Last time we went (Labor Day weekend), we had so much fun...atving, sunshine, lots of food, alcohol, family time, horseshoe tournaments and smores. I love long weekends and celebrating Memorial Day with family and friends who have or are serving.

Five. If you missed Tuesday's post, then you missed when I told you all that I FINALLY have some walkers. Ever since Monday, my girls have been walking more and more. Yesterday, Avery took so many more steps and was furthering her distance all week. Sutton is walking back and forth all day in her daycare room and at home. So crazy to see how fast they learned. And it is adorable to see how tall they really are. So cute and fun to watch their Frankenstein walks.

Confessional Thursday

It's Thursday and it is time for a little confesh-sesh.

Wanna join in on the fun? Grab the button below, write your confessions and come back here to link up with Lynn and I.
grab button for Sparkles and Lattes
<div class="sparkles-and-lattes-button" style="width: 250px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="http://sparklesandlattes.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow"> <img src="http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t472/lmalex13/Confessional%20Thursday.jpg" alt="Sparkles and Lattes" width="250" height="250" /> </a> </div>

I confess that I sort of went on a shopping craze yesterday. Nordstrom is having a up to 40% off sale and I bought a pair of jeans. Then I hit up Loft and bought a pair of bright chinos (40% off). I blame Jenn for mentioning the sale in her post yesterday. I also bought a shirt off of P&M and I bought another one last week during her flash sale. I also have these sitting in my shopping cart, but haven't pull the trigger because they wouldn't ship until end of July.

I confess that I am obsessed with the new baby mirrors we put in our cars this week. I can now see the girls at all times. We get a peak into how they spend their time on our daily commutes. Whether they are sleeping, playing, staring out the window or watching themselves, I die over the cuteness. How did we ever drive without them?

I confess that I have hair envy. I want my friend Stacey's beautiful color she has going on right now and I want a shorter cut. But I would have hair cut remorse, so I only ever trim. Rory told me that hair grows back, but I would want my long hair again after 2 weeks. So I will keep the length, but maybe change the color up a bit. I am in desperate need of this hair appointment on Friday.

I confess that I finally bought some dry shampoo. I haven't used it yet, but I am super excited. I had a sample of it before and hated it (hoping it was just the brand) because I looked like I had dandruff and it weighed my hair down. I am hoping to use it this weekend while camping and see how I like it.

I confess that I have a countdown until vacation on my work calendar. Yes, I am back in elementary school. It pleases me everyday when I realize how close we are to going to Graeagle for a week. I realize I just got back from a vacation in April, but mama needs a break and a chance to sleep in for a week.

I confess that I am not seeing the results I want at the gym. Not sure if it's just me, my post pregnancy body or what, but I want everything to tighten up a bit (name that movie). Or maybe it is partially due to my deflated tatas. I have been working out at least three times a week plus evening walks and my simply fit board and I want my pre-wedding body back. Haha, wishful thinking.

I confess that I definitely partook in National Wine Day yesterday. I almost forgot, but as soon as my lady babies were asleep, I cracked open a bottle and waited for Rory to bring home dinner. Wine before dinner....yes please.

What's Hap-Pinning

It's time for What's Hap-Pinning and I have been pinning so many things lately. Today I am linking up with Jennifer and Jessi.

I have been trying to come up with some new ideas for my Spring and Summer wardrobe. I am taking items from my closet and using Pinterest as my inspiration for fun new combos. Plus I am eyeing a few things that I wouldn't mind adding to my closet.

This has been my "uniform" on the weekends lately. Skinny jeans rolled with either sandals or booties and a fun top. Throw on the utility jacket for an evening out and you are all set.

I love the pops of color here. I have the chambray shirt, the perfect scarf and shoes for this, but I am missing the jeans/pants. I am in desperate need of colored pants. Ladies where have you found your favorite pairs at?

It is no secret that I love my Tieks. I have them in the prettiest ballet pink and I want to add ALL of the colors to closet. I just need to win the lottery. These flats are beyond comfy....even for chasing toddlers around all day (which is my future). Buy them. You will love them.

Everything about this outfit. The lacey shirt and yellow blazer need to make it into my closet NOW.

This is totally a mommy style or a Sunday brunch style. The comfy linen jogger pants, nude bow sandals, soft white t and a hat. Loving those pants so much.

Obsessed with this skirt. It is a little short for me, but perfect for date night. Love everything about this outfit, minus the shoes. Need. Want. So In Love.

This skirt is perfect and something I would LOVE to wear to work, after work or whenever. I love this whole outfit and I need to find a skirt like this. Something fresh, floral and flowy. The simple pops of green are gorgeous in this outfit.

Children's Milestones

My girls are turning 17 months this coming Sunday. Seriously, so crazy to me. Where does the time go? They are constantly changing each week and I feel like they grow inches and gain pounds every week. I am sure it is more likely that it happens monthly, but it feels daily or weekly to me.

I have been a bit worried lately about their development....more specifically their walking. It seems every baby that is around us is walking if they are 10 months and older. Except mine. And it breaks my heart and makes me worry.

Their pediatrician said as long as they are walking by 18 months, we have nothing to worry about. But is that 18 months real age or adjusted age? Because they are almost 17 months real age and 15 1/2 months adjusted age.

Last Friday at my twin mom group lunch, I brought this up to them and they all assured me that my girls are just fine and everyone walks, crawls, sits up and everything else on their own.

We have been practicing walking with them everywhere. We have them walk from the front room to their room, to our room, to the kitchen and everywhere in between. We hold one hand and encourage them to let go, but it hasn't happened yet....

Until yesterday. We went to visit the girls at daycare like we normally do and I was standing Sutton up away from me and helping her walk to me. I let her hands go on one try and she took two steps to me and fell into my arms. So we tried it again and she took another two steps. We tried this a few times and sometimes she would sit right back down, but she was taking steps. Then on our final try I put her way back from me and she took five steps to me, stood there and clapped and sat down. I cried because I was so happy. She finally walked.

And Rory tried with Avery to our surprise who took two steps to her dad and fell into his lap. Then she cried and didn't want to try it anymore. Seriously, I was worrying over nothing. Sure, they may have walked later than other babies, but they did it at their own pace. So let's hope this keeps up.

Now I know to some this isn't exciting for you all, but it is for me and I wanted to document this special day here in my blog...aka my life journal. So thank you all for sharing this with me.

When we got home, we worked on walking more. Sutton is a walking machine. Avery stood on her own for a long time and took three steps on her own. She's ready to start running soon. In no time, I will have two crazy toddlers who I am running after and thinking why did I ever want them to walk, let alone run. Haha.

Weekending

I'm back for another Monday and from a weekend that didn't go as planned. Between Rory being sick and the bad weather, it threw our weekend plans off.

Friday after work, I met up with some ladies from my twin mom group. They had plans for lunch and a movie, but I could only make the lunch. We talked all about our children, being parents, got advice on our little ones and made plans to do it again. It was so much fun and only a small amount of girls could be there for this one.

After lunch, I stopped at Victoria Secret to see if they had a nude bralette like my black one I have. They didn't and I wasn't impressed with the bralette selection this year. Total bummer. If you know of any cute nude bralettes send them way so I can check them out. I also stopped in Bath and Body Works to snag some candles. They had some three wick candles on sale for $15 (normally $22.50). I got the watermelon lemonade and tiki mango. Amazing. We have already burned the mango one.

After a bit of shopping, I headed home to put a quick load into the washer and headed over to my Strange Bikini appointment. I had so much fun trying on all the samples, altering designs she had to be customized to me and picking a brand new color she just got into stock. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Best way to get a bikini by far.

After my appointment, I went home to change the laundry over and hang out before dinner. At 5 pm, I headed to dinner with my mom and sister. After a quick dinner, we went to Picasso and Wine to paint tidal waves. During our session, a lady passed out and the fire department and paramedics came in to help her. So crazy. But we had so much fun with the class. My mom and sister loved it.

Saturday morning, we got up and headed to breakfast since Rory was too sick to play in his golf tournament. He played in the work one on Friday and was feeling pretty crappy. He did go to the doctor and just had a viral infection, so it just has to work its course.

At 12 pm, I headed to my old bosses celebration of life. It was huge, amazing and beautiful. When I pass, I hope I have that many friends and family that come to celebrate my life. And I would love for it to be in a huge park with lots of food and drinks as well. The stories were the best, many laughs were had and I got to see so many of my old co-workers. Total silver lining.

I stayed longer than I planned, but headed home to meet Rory and my parents who were going to watch the girls. We were supposed to go out for drinks and a baseball game to celebrate my friend graduating nursing school, but since Rory was still sick, we had to pass. We were also invited out with my friends, but again we passed. Instead, we ran a few errands without the girls and had dinner out. A sort of day date. Dinner was phenomenal and we were able to reminisce about my old boss and how precious life is.

We got home early to relieve my parents of babysitting duty, chatted for awhile and went to bed early.

Sunday we went to breakfast again, did some grocery shopping, bought some new sunglasses (finally), visited with my in-laws, took a long walk, made dinner and did our nightly routine with the girls. We crashed out pretty early, but it was a good day.

Tonight I am looking forward to the Bachelorette and I am loading up on coffee now to make it through my day and be awake enough to watch the entire first episode. Yes, I am a total grandma and go to bed pretty early (other than Bachelorette nights).

Hope you had a great weekend!

Today I am linking up with Biana from B Loved Boston.

Friday's Favs and Happenings

It's Friday which means I can sleep in tomorrow. Oh wait, I have twins and Rory has a golf tournament, so that means no sleeping in for me. Ugh. But at least it is the weekend. We have some great things planned. Hurry up work day and be over.

Today I am linking up with Karli and April.

One. I can't stop listening to JT's Can't Stop the Feeling. It is just so good and makes me want to get up and dance. I love me some Justin Timberlake.

Two. The diaper pail search didn't last long. I researched a ton yesterday to find something to replace the stank and I found our new diaper pail. Enter the Ubbi Steal Diaper Pail. You don't need special bags, it locks (the girls get into everything) and it keeps the stink in. It should arrive on our doorstep in two days. Thank you Jesus.

Three. I have been on the search for car mirrors for the girls. Sure we get to do forward facing in about 7 months, but the girls need the distraction, I want to be able to see them and we have a long car ride coming up. I researched everything (heavily) as I always do and found these to fit our needs. Does anyone have experience with them? They fit around the headrests, are soft, the mirror is clearer than most and they seem to say on the headrests where a lot of them had reviews that they hadn't. So we went for the Googah Baby Car Mirror Extra Large. Let's hope we are as satisfied as the reviewers are.

Four. Busy weekends. I have lunch with my twin mom group today, followed by my custom Strange Bikini appointment, dinner with my mom and sister and ending the day with Picasso and Wine (painting and wine). I am soooo excited about my day. What I am not excited about? Not seeing my girls after 10 am today.

Tomorrow I am watching the girls until my parents come up to watch them since we are going to dinner, drinks and the Aces baseball game (pending weather) to celebrate my friends graduation from nursing school.

Busy fun weekends are the best!

Five. I have been searching for white pants (that aren't see through), but haven't found any that I have liked or are not see through. But in the midst of it, I found the most comfy pants for work and I have to share them with you. No, it is not a sponsored post. I just love them. They are soft, stretchy and fit like a glove.

Some bloggers have said Loft has some great white pants and I am considering these. We don't have a Loft here anymore, so I would be buying blindly and sending back what I don't like. Have any of you tried any of these out?
Curvy Skinny Jeans

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Confessional Thursday

So I started my post yesterday and got a few confessions done and I never finished it. Oops. So it is coming at you late today. Better late than never right?

Time to confess...
grab button for Sparkles and Lattes
<div class="sparkles-and-lattes-button" style="width: 250px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="http://sparklesandlattes.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow"> <img src="http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t472/lmalex13/Confessional%20Thursday.jpg" alt="Sparkles and Lattes" width="250" height="250" /> </a> </div>

I confess that I use the exclamation point way too much. I use it for everything. I just can't stop.

I confess that my girls diaper pail stinks to high h*ll. We have tried everything...air fresheners in it, outside of it, sprays, the baking soda capsules and cleaning it. Nothing works. It used to be amazing, but after almost a year and a half of the twins poop, it is the worst. Gag worthy bad. We thought about sticking it out for another year to year and a half until the girls are potty trained, but that can't happen. I can't live with the stink. So the search is on.

I confess that I couldn't stand my toe nails anymore after my botched pedicure in Mexico that I finally gave in and got gel toes again. I was trying to hold out and paint them myself, but she does a better job, I can relax and not worry about the dry time. So worth it.

I confess that I thought it was Friday today and got super excited about my weekend plans only to realize that I have a full work day ahead. Only saving grace is I have leftover pizza for lunch. It's the small things.

I confess that my whole body is sore from working out. I haven't been this sore in a long time. It feels good, but I feel like a total wuss with how sore I am and lack of motivation. But gym time today it is. Maybe my muscles will feel better.

I confess that my pedicure went way late last night so we didn't have the caesar salads my husband requested and I am not disappointed at all. I love table side cesar salads (spoiled much) and ones I get in restaurants, but only like homemade ones when you make the dressing, the croutons, have real parm cheese, etc. Otherwise it is bland and falls short of anything good. So I won and we got pizza delivered. The chicken will go to the girls, we can use the lettuce in a salad and the dressing (in a bottle, oh the horror) can be used Rory later on. No regrets.

I confess that I went into Target yesterday and didn't buy a single thing. They didn't have either of the shirts I wanted in stock and the sandals I wanted were out in my size. I guess Target didn't want my money yesterday.

And that concludes my confessions for the week.

To link up, grab the button up top, write your confessions, add the button and come back here to link up below. Super easy and fun. See you tomorrow for Friday Favorites.

What's Hap-Pinning

It's Wednesday and we are officially half way through the week. Sooo happy about this. Today I am joining in on the fun with Jessi and Jenn for What's Hap-"Pinning". I have never joined this link up, but I have actually had time to peruse Pinterest, so enjoy.

These yummy appetizers need to make an appearance in my life asap. What's not to love? Bread, brie cheese, honey and strawberries. It would go perfectly with a crisp white wine on a Friday evening.

Growing up one of my favorite meals (other than spaghetti) was sloppy joes. I couldn't get enough of them. I used to make them weekly before moving in with Rory. He is a hater and doesn't like them as much as I do. So I search for new recipes to try out on him in hopes he will come to the sloppy side. I plan to sneak these into our meal plan next week.

I love quick and easy meals. Ones that remind me of boneless wings are even better. These babies are baked, not fried, so I would feel less guilty indulging in them. Pair them with some rice or roasted veggies and you have an amazing meal.

I don't have any idea on where I can bring this to, but I need somewhere to go ASAP. This looks sooo good. I love artichoke dip and this makes it so much easier. Anyone want to invite me over for a party so I can make this?

My girls are almost 17 months. How is that even possible? We are constantly trying to find ways to entertain and distract our toddlers. Toddlers can be monsters and you have to break out the big guns to entertain them.

While we are not quite ready to wean the girls off their pacis, it is a thought in the back of my mind. We hope to wean them by the time they are 2, so we have some time, but we will need all the help we can get. Avery loves her paci. They don't use them all the time, but bedtime will be the hardest.

Seriously so much fun pinning, wishing and planning today. And if you are not following me on Pinterest, you should do so here.

Don't forget to link up tomorrow for Confessional Thursday!

Family Photos

So I am finally ready to share our family photos with you all. It was really hard to narrow down the ones I wanted to post because I love them all. But I wasn't about to post 80 of them.

I didn't watermark these because I didn't want to mess them up. So please don't steal them, use them for your own purposes or copy them. Gotta it? They are all copyrighted by myself and the photographer AB Photo Reno.

So without further ado...

Seriously so in love with these photos. I can't believe how big my girls are getting, how fast time flies and how their personalities show so much these days. It is hard to get Avery to crack a smile for the professional photographer, but we still captured some beautiful photos.
