Friday Favorites

It's almost the weekend and this week seemed to drag on. Maybe that is because we have had so many short weeks lately that a full week seems so long.

For once we don't have a packed weekend. I am not even sure what that means anymore, but I will take it. I really hope to go snowboarding this weekend if we can get some more snow. I have got to get my days in. Other than that, I hope to bake some cookies in our new oven with my sweet toddlers.

ONE. As you all probably know by now, I cut my hair (about 6 inches off) and I am really having fun with it. Though I was having a hard time figuring out how to style my hair. When you have the same-ish hairstyle for 10 years, you do the same thing over and over.

So I took to Pinterest for a little help and I have been using this guide to help me style my lob and it has helped me so much. #hairstyleproblems

What also has helped is my new wand that I am finally getting used to. Some of you asked which one I got and this is the one. I got it in the 1 to 1 1/2 inch as I wanted the looser beach waves and it works like a charm. It comes with a glove so you won't burn your fingers (total life saver for me).

TWO. During the month of December, my work does the Fabulous Month of Food. You don't have to participate, but if you do, you sign up for a day and bring in food. Some people go all out and others take the easy way out (I am looking at you $5 chips and salsa). Most of the time it is breakfast style foods, but it can be others too. So this is where you all come in. What should I make? Do you have amazing breakfast recipes that can travel to work and I can make ahead?

THREE. I drink A LOT of coffee and I wouldn't have it any other way. Except maybe for the fact that my teeth could be a little more white. Ok, a lot more white. I am looking into whitening my teeth. Do you all have a favorite whitening kit? Do you even whiten your teeth?

FOUR. I have talked about these before, but Glassybabies make the best gifts. I have gotten them as gifts and have given them as gift. I loved when I would visit NYC and go to their shop to hand pick them for my friends, but sadly they closed that store and are in the Seattle area.

They offered their traditional ones which hold candles and now drinkers. I don't have any of the drinkers, but (I have about 10 of the candle holders. And I am in love.

I wanted to share these with you (I wasn't paid for this. I just LOVE them) as the perfect stocking stuffer or gift for a loved one.

Here are some of my favorites:
CANDLES
Home Glassybaby
Jolly Glassybaby
Triumph Glassybaby

DRINKERS
Bellini glassybaby
Nightcap Glassybaby

FIVE. Have any of you done the genetic testing? There is a research company that has paired up with our local hospital (one of them) and they are doing free genetic testing. It tests for diseases, genetic disorders, your origins and some other stuff. I signed up for their wait list awhile ago and was contacted this week about participating.

My worry is that I want to get life insurance and I don't want anything hindering that. From the results that I see from the test (my friend did it), I most likely wouldn't be excluded from insurance, but it is a risk.

Have any of you done one similar? Thoughts?

SIX. Yesterday my co-worker gave me a Peppermint Oreo and it was seriously the best Oreo. Game changer and bad for my thighs because I need a package or three.

I am linking up withApril, A Little Bit of Everything, Karli, Meet @ the Barre and Cup of Tea.

  2. Your haircut is adorable. I have a curling wand similar to that, but I need to actuall learn how to use it. Ha ha! I'm no help with the food ideas, but I love that idea. It sounds like a lot of fun. OMG I've tried to peppermint Oreos and they are amazing!! Why do they do that to us? Ha ha!!

  3. Why haven't I seen this haircut styled?! I need a new wand that makes looser curls so I'll check that one out. I haven't whitened my teeth in years but I use to use those crest kits, I just remember my teeth feeling so weird with it on. Maybe they've come a long way since then, that was like 10 years ago LOL

I hope you get out to go snowboarding! That's something I've always wanted to try!

    1. I used to use the curling iron too, but this one allows for no kinks and allows for more beach like waves. You do need those oreos. They are amazing!

  6. Having a low key weekend sounds amazing! I hope you get to go snowboarding. I'm currently working with Smile Brilliant and love their teeth whitening kit so far! I'll be having a giveaway in a few weeks so it might be something you want to check out. Have a great weekend!

  7. I need to try a curling wand someday. I have pin-straight hair, and I'd really love to have some waves and volume...maybe one day?!

  8. After missing my last TWO hair trims (because little man vomited ON me before both appts, what are the odds??) I finally made it into the salon and ALMOST went for the big chop (because at that point I was D-U-N done with my hair... buuuut, I chickened out. You are inspiring me though with the fun you are having with your shorted 'do! :)

  9. I'm so hooked on the Birthday Cake Oreos - I need to mix it up & try those.
I totally would burn myself on that wand. Give me a few pairs of glove with it :)
I am always afraid to try one of the whitening products because I've always heard how they make the teeth so sensitive. You'll have to let us know what you try.

  10. I know what you mean about your hair. Over the summer I cut 9 inches off and was having such a hard time learning to style it! I also use a 1 1/2 curling want to get waves, but I use a flatiron to just straighten the ends. I read about that on Pinterest! Ha. Have a great weekend!

    1. 9 inches. Wow and I thought my 6 inches was a lot. It is hard to learn a new hairstyle, but I love having a different cut and look now. I should do the flat iron on my ends. Thanks for the tip. Have a great weekend as well!

  12. OH girl, I LOVE me some Oreos! Every time they put out a new flavor my co-workers and I always go get a bag to try them in the office. Lol. I love them all so much!

  13. Life insurance oh life insurance. We got policies a couple years ago. I have to get a policy for #babybigtruck2 now.

I got a curling wand and for the life of me I can't figure out how to use it. Ugh.

    Love those glasses!

Have you tried the double stuffed golden oreos? Those and snores oreos are my favorites!!

  14. My office recently did an Oreo taste test and my favorite were the thin lemon oreos. I also thought the thin mint oreos were better than the peppermint oreos. Jess at Just Jess

  15. Those glassybaby's are so pretty! I've never seen or heard of them before. For your work breakfast an idea is egg frittatas made in muffin tins. Mind you, I've never actually made these before(!)but have seen them on Pinterest. They seem easy to serve/transport and they're individual servings. Otherwise, I'd say something in the slow cooker (oatmeal, apple crisp, etc.) so it stays warm and again, also easily transportable! Have a great weekend and hope you get some more snow to go snow boarding! Visiting from April's link-up!

    1. That is a great idea. Thank you for the suggestion. I wish we had gone snowboarding this weekend, but we couldn't get a babysitter for the girls. Next time! And those glassybabies are amazing!!!

  16. Love that comment about the oreos! I hadn't tried the peppermint yet! I used to love the Crest whitestrips. I feel like they did wonders for me, but then my gums started to receed, so I stopped using them. I'm not sure they caused the recession, but I'm not up for any more gum graph surgeries.

    1. Haha. They are the best. I bought a bag this weekend and they are half way gone. So good. Gum graph surgery? Yikes. That sounds really painful!

  17. I don't whiten my teeth very often but the best ones I've ever used are the Crest White Strips Supreme (here's a link to what they look like although I've never bought them from Amazon before-- https://www.amazon.com/Whitestrips-Supreme-Professional-Whitening-strips/dp/B005GRGA5G). I got them when my stepsister was in dental school & they were having a fundraiser. Not sure if they would have something like that where you are at but might be something to look into. I am so terrible at curling wands! I've tried using them & just cannot get the hang of it for anything. I think genetic testing would be so interesting to do!

  19. I got tested to see if I was a carrier for pretty much any disease that exists when we were working with a maternal fetal doctor. I knew I carried one thing, but another thing came back positive I never knew about and never even would have thought to get tested for because it's not typical for my family heritage. Neither of those would affect insurance, though. I didn't do the part with where your DNA comes from, because health insurance won't pay for that, obviously.
